Production Engineer (Steel Sand Casting)

Job Summary

The Production Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the steel sand casting production process to ensure quality, productivity, safety, and on-time delivery. The role involves managing all stages of production, from mould preparation to melting, pouring, fettling, heat treatment, and final inspection.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily steel sand casting production activities.
• Monitor the complete manufacturing process, including:
  • Pattern preparation
  • Sand moulding and core making
  • Melting and metal treatment
  • Pouring operations
  • Shakeout and fettling
  • Heat treatment
  • Final inspection
• Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor melting parameters, pouring temperatures, and process control.
• Optimize production efficiency and reduce rejection rates.
• Investigate casting defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Pattern Shop, and Machine Shop teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies.
• Prepare daily production reports and analyze production data.
• Manage manpower allocation and monitor operator performance.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support new product development and process validation.
• Ensure proper utilization of raw materials and minimize wastage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Production Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in a steel sand casting foundry.
• Experience in carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel castings is preferred.
