Role Summary

The Operations Manager will oversee and manage the operational activities of the ship agency business for the respective region, ensuring service delivery, compliance with maritime regulations, and exceptional customer satisfaction. This role requires a proactive leader with strong organizational skills, industry expertise, and the ability to coordinate operations in a active environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of port agency operations, for different vessel types including Containers, RORO, Break Bulk, Bulk, Tankers, Chemical and Cruise ships.
  • Coordinate with vessel masters, port authorities, terminal operators, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, ensure timely arrivals and departures, and address challenges.
  • Optimize processes to minimize costs, reduce turnaround times, and enhance service quality.
  • Lead and supervise the operations team, including port agents, coordinators, and support staff.
  • Assign responsibilities, set performance targets, and monitor operational productivity.
  • Provide training to staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Promote safety culture, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the operations team.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding operational matters, ensuring clear communication and prompt resolution of issues.
  • Build strong relationships with shipping lines, cargo owners, and charterers.
  • regular updates to clients on vessel status, cargo operations, and relevant developments. 
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, port regulations, and company procedures.
  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid disruptions to operations.
  • Monitor and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate records of vessel movements, cargo operations, and other operational data.
  • Prepare and submit operational reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and areas for improvement.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in ship agency, maritime, or shipping business & operations, with at least 2 years as a team leader.
  • Master Mariner or Chief Officer with experience on multiple ship types
  • Master / Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of the maritime & port operations, and international shipping regulations.
